QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SHOTS

The studies answer some questions and leave others open

Can the findings answer your treatment questions? Some, but not all: CJC-1295 changed blood tests, and sermorelin helped children grow. Lasting adult benefits and safety remain unproved.

CJC-1295 has no approved use in people

Has anyone approved CJC-1295 for medical care? No major drug authority has given the drug that approval [1][4].

The drug copies 29 amino acids, tiny parts joined to form proteins. Four changes slow the body's breakdown of the drug.

DAC names the form that fastens to a protein blood carries. That form keeps working for roughly 5-8 days.

FDA advisers opposed allowing the drug onto a list for pharmacy-made prescriptions. A clinic offering the shot doesn't establish permission to make the prescription.

A research label describes scientific testing, not approved medical treatment. The label doesn't prove that the bottle's contents are safe for you.

CJC-1295 raised hormone levels without proving better health

CJC-1295 prompts a greater release of hormone from the gland. The hormone then prompts growth-protein production in the liver and elsewhere.

A study used shots under the skin in healthy adults [4]. Growth hormone rose 2- to 10-fold for 6 or more days.

The adults' blood therefore carried several times their earlier hormone levels. The liver's growth protein also remained higher for days.

Larger study amounts caused larger rises in the blood tests. Those rises aren't goals for your treatment or proof of better health.

Another study found the usual hormone bursts continued during CJC-1295 treatment [5]. Keeping the bursts didn't stop hormone levels between bursts from rising.

CJC-1295 lacks safety tests lasting years

Can short studies settle years of CJC-1295 safety for you? No: the human tests were small and brief.

2024: FDA pharmacy advisers worried the immune system might fight the drug [1]. They opposed adding the drug to the list of ingredients for pharmacy-made prescriptions.

That concern doesn't establish which symptoms a person would experience. Swelling, blood-sugar changes, and lasting growth-protein rises raise further concerns [4][7].

Large studies link higher growth-protein levels with some cancers. The drug's added cancer risk remains unknown after development stopped before approval.

Those concerns aren't a prediction that every person will suffer harm. The early studies also don't prove safe long use at your age.

CJC-1295 study amounts cannot set a safe treatment amount

Is there a proved safe amount for treating an adult illness? No such amount has been established for CJC-1295.

One study shot contained 30 or 60 micrograms for each kilogram the person weighed [4]. A microgram weighs just one millionth as much as a gram; a kilogram weighs slightly over two pounds.

Doctors watched the study participants receiving shots under the skin. No study comparing treatment groups supports internet instructions about how often to take these shots.

The figures describe what researchers tested, not instructions for your care. Your doctor needs to know why you want treatment, what illnesses you have, and which medicines you take before judging whether the study findings apply to your own care.

Sermorelin prescriptions follow temporary pharmacy rules

Can today's pharmacy-made sermorelin be treated as the old approved drug? No: the old approval and today's pharmacy rules are different.

2008: the maker ended US sales of the approved drug for business reasons [10]. Ending sales wasn't a finding of harm or failed treatment.

Category 1 lets pharmacies prepare prescriptions while meeting temporary FDA conditions. The FDA doesn't plan to stop work that meets those conditions.

Each prepared drug hasn't passed FDA approval tests for its claimed uses. That listing doesn't establish an adult benefit for you.

Sermorelin prompts the gland while the body's limits on release still work [1]. Those limits cannot prove years of safety.

The children studied grew faster with sermorelin

What happened to children who lacked enough growth hormone? A study found faster growth after sermorelin treatment [11].

The drug prompts growth-hormone release while natural limits remain active [1][10]. The gland can keep releasing hormone in bursts.

The study used daily shots at several clinics. Yearly growth rose from roughly 4.1 centimeters to 7-8 centimeters.

Researchers judged that the liver's growth protein hadn't risen too high. That judgment didn't establish a safe blood-test limit for you.

The growth protein helps cells grow and mend. Faster growth in those children doesn't establish better health in your later years.

Sermorelin benefits depend on who was tested

Does sermorelin work for the benefit you want? Children lacking growth hormone grew faster in a study [11].

Claims about healthy adults' aging, fat, and muscle have weaker evidence. 2008: a medical opinion article found too little proof for treatment against aging [9].

An adult study used tesamorelin, a drug related to sermorelin [8]. Better thinking and less body fat in that trial were tesamorelin findings.

Similar action gives researchers a reason to test another drug. The related-drug result doesn't establish that sermorelin would help you.

Large trials lasting years haven't proved benefits for healthy older adults. The old child approval cannot answer your adult treatment question.

Reported waiting times are not a tested timetable

When do research users say they noticed a change? Many describe little happening in the first four to eight weeks.

Some say sleep changed first, sometimes within two weeks. Other accounts mention energy, fat, or muscle changes after two to three months of nightly use.

Some people report no clear change at all. These are research users' accounts, not times checked by a study comparing people given the drug with people given no active drug.

Patience in another person's account doesn't establish effective treatment. Those reported times cannot predict when you would benefit or prove that you can safely keep using the drug.

CJC-1295 DAC lasts days; no-DAC clears within hours

Which form has days of action? CJC-1295 DAC attaches to albumin, a protein blood already carries, and acts for about 5-8 days [7][4].

No-DAC cannot attach to albumin in that way. The body clears no-DAC within hours; Modified GRF and Mod GRF are other names for that form.

Both forms have four changes that slow breakdown. DAC also keeps growth hormone and the liver's growth protein raised for days.

DAC's longer action can mean longer swelling and blood-sugar changes. Labels and research discussions sometimes mix up the form names.

Knowing the form helps you understand an account of use. A report of hours of action and a report of days concern different forms.

Sermorelin and CJC-1295 face different rules for pharmacy use

Are these drugs the same treatment? No: four changes help CJC-1295 resist breakdown, while sermorelin copies an unchanged hormone part [7].

DAC also attaches the changed drug to a blood protein. That attachment is why DAC can stay active for days.

Sermorelin once had drug approval and now has Category 1 pharmacy permission. The temporary FDA rules allow preparation when pharmacies meet their conditions.

CJC-1295 lacks both that listing and treatment approval [1][10]. The 2024 advisers opposed adding the drug to the pharmacy ingredient list.

A comparison puts the changed drug's time in blood roughly 20 to 50 times longer. That broad estimate doesn't tell you which end of the range belongs to which form.

Sermorelin clears within minutes to a few hours; DAC acts for days. The comparison of both treatments explains why longer action isn't proof of benefit for you.

Sport bans both CJC-1295 and sermorelin

Can an athlete use either drug without breaking sport rules? WADA, the group that sets those drug rules, bans CJC-1295 all year under Section S2 [2].

That section groups these hormone drugs together under the sport ban. Tests can detect the drug, including in material taken during investigations.

Finding the drug proves detection, not safe or helpful treatment. Sermorelin also belongs to the banned group that prompts growth-hormone release.

If you compete in sport with drug testing, use can bring penalties. Neither a prescription nor a research label removes the ban.

Growth hormone connects the brain, gland, and liver

How does the body control growth hormone? The brain prompts the growth gland to release hormone in bursts.

Growth hormone prompts the liver to make insulin-like growth factor 1. This growth protein helps cells grow, mend, and use food.

The brain also makes a hormone that slows further release. The liver's growth protein helps tell the gland when enough has been released.

CJC-1295 and sermorelin both prompt that gland near the start [1]. The shared action explains hormone changes, without proving a health benefit for you.
